Artist statementWhat I chose to do for my functional design was make a light shade out of recycled plastic bags. What I had to do to make this was, cut off the handles, cut the bottom part out, and cut off the side with no logo on it. After I did that with a few white bags and a few beige bags I stacked them together, put them on newspaper, put newspaper over them, and then started ironing. It took a while to iron them where it was stuck together, but I tried to make it so that it didn't burn holes, because that's what happened with the first one. The first one I made was with blue and beige bags because I thought it would look better, but it didn't , there were tons of holes, it was all hardened and I had to use tape to seal it up. The photos shown are the second one I made that was way better than the first.
