Overall as an artist there are things that you learn about yourself and how you do things as you go along. Throughout the semester there wasn't much that was different from last year, well a little. For me it is a little harder to be creative and come up with my own ideas. It's much easier for me to take an idea from someone else and use that for mine. As an artist you can't exactly do that for everything, most likely better if it wasn't the case for that. Though I may not be a creative person, given the time I can think of something somewhat intuitive but I'd rather have a base to go off of for my ideas. Though I didn't do much of it I find it the most fun to find ways to improvise to find ways to make a character look different but be the same. I didn't do this in any of my projects in class but I did try it on a few personal drawings and kind of last year. I'd like to elaborate on taking bits from other characters or poses to make a somewhat original character and what I think is that I'll be able to create my own character and that's what I strive for in the future. What is my most successful piece in my opinion is this one, because I had tried to do it last year with oil pastels but it didn't work out as well and when I tried this time with chalk it looked way better. I like the progress between the two. Personally I like drawing the sky because of how simple it is to do but it looks very nice, I did basically the same for a later art piece but with paint. If there was any piece that I'd like to do over it would be this one due to how it looks, I'm pretty unsatisfied with it. I feel like I could have done the watercolor better and had done the details better as well. What I find most lacking in is a sense of color. All the colors are really washed out and don't really go well with each other because of their varying shades. Of all the media's I've used I enjoyed chalk pastels the most because of how easy they are to use, they blend well and are somewhat easy to control. I feel like they're the best for making scenery like a forest, or in my case the sky and that's what I enjoy using them for. I use color pencils for characters. To me they're the same, except in the manner of the mess it makes and keeping in lines.
