Overarching artist statementThroughout the semester I was inspired by two things, video games and anime. That's the whole reason I made the art the way I did, to encompass the style of those two things and bring it into my own, kinda. There was no specific technique I used for any of my pieces, except for the first one where I used markers and a watercolor brush to make light colored spots. The main thing I like to use to make my pieces is graphite, and even if the final isn't in graphite the sketches and rough drafts are. I find that certain styles like how in video games and anime look and I try and draw more like that, but you can only get physical drawings but so close to drawings made graphically. I enjoyed my semester with Mrs. Schumann and I plan on having her next year, before this class I really just stuck to one thing, graphite, and because I had to step outside of my boundaries and from that I sort of found a new liking in marker/watercolor, it just depends on what i'm gonna use it on. I feel like my most successful project this semester was the "Ruling the world" one, I was never good with names it was the best I could come up with, but for this piece I used colored ink. The piece is supposed to bring together two characters, Satania and Megumin to make a remix character. Although it was my first time using colored ink it was fairly easy to use, I enjoyed how bright the colors were and how it made the piece, but it was a lot harder to do any sort of shading with it, that part I didn't enjoy as much. Why I feel this project is my most successful is because out of all my other pieces that weren't graphite this one was the best because it looked the best, and even though I make a lot of mistakes with other pieces, this one only had a few, like the eyes being too bright and the skin tone.
To be totally honest if I didn't have to chose a different media every other project I would have gone with graphite every time, but gladly because I was forced to chose different media's I took risks and found new ways to make pieces. Because I took those risks I learned new materials and a little bit of more style that I like.

Artist statement What my art piece was supposed to represent was two parts coming together to show the sunset and the comet above. The whole purpose of the piece was to have the comet fall down and split into multiple colors with a trail behind it, but ended up turning out to more of a rainbow, but it still shows what I was going for. What I was going for with the piece was to use the colors to make the sky look brighter. My quote was "Reach for the stars"- Christa McAuliffe what the relevance that my piece has with the quote was it emphasizes on more of the beauty of the sky instead of just a straight up view its more of an angled view that captures the ground with it. I chose to use the oil pastels cause I thought that the best way to capture all the color would be with how bright it is and how you can mix the colors together to make it either lighter or into a new color. The way I approached the comet in the sky was I got the idea from the anime "Kimi no na wa" I thought it looked pretty so I tried and capture some of that with the piece. What I like the most about my piece is that its two seperate oa
Artist statement The name of my piece is Urarikka, combination of Uraraka and Rikka. The most obvious element of my piece is how its graphite and you might be able to see some shading as being the element. I didn't like how the background was empty and plain so I added some backdrop with some stars, and to add some sort of dynamic I highlighted the outside of the stars and characters by erasing around. My inspirations for my piece was "Boku no Hero Academia" and "Chuunibyou" it doesn't really stand for anything, its just characters I like from the shows. What my goal was for this was to get better at shading, but I don't really feel like I accomplished that because it wasn't to my full ability. What I was hoping to learn was to get better at shading and coloring but didn't really accomplish that goal, but what I can do is use these for future reference of what I should do better of. Artist statementWhat I chose to do for my functional design was make a light shade out of recycled plastic bags. What I had to do to make this was, cut off the handles, cut the bottom part out, and cut off the side with no logo on it. After I did that with a few white bags and a few beige bags I stacked them together, put them on newspaper, put newspaper over them, and then started ironing. It took a while to iron them where it was stuck together, but I tried to make it so that it didn't burn holes, because that's what happened with the first one. The first one I made was with blue and beige bags because I thought it would look better, but it didn't , there were tons of holes, it was all hardened and I had to use tape to seal it up. The photos shown are the second one I made that was way better than the first. Artist StatementThe name of my piece is Ace, Ace is a doberman who has a genetic defect that causes his legs to be shorter than usual, making his head and body look longer than usual, well that’s how it looks to me. The whole purpose of this was to make it look like a dog, and I guess it does look like one, just a deformed one. What I used to create this was polymer clay and I just had to put it together, heat it, then paint. There wasn’t a inspiration necessarily behind the piece but I did want to give it more of a playful look, which I guess it does have. My whole goal was to make a collection of dogs but by the time I was almost finished with one I didn’t have enough time to get to any others so what I did was I added some background items to make it look better. I sort of feel good about the piece but I think it could have turned out better because the final had a lot of jagged edges and a big rip in the neck. Artist StatementWhat does my artwork look like? To me it looks sort of weird, the eyes stand out a lot, there is no shading, and there are some spots where the color tones don’t match. The title of my work is "My Artist Steal". The most obvious elements in my work is the style, it’s clearly more of a cartoonish style. My piece was made with colored ink, I used brushes, and a bit of water, what I intended to do was make pretty much everything light then go darker where the shade was supposed to go but then it all turned out dark. What inspired my artwork was an anime, two actually, there’s no real life meaning behind the art it’s more of just portraying what the two characters were doing, well one of them, which was taking over the world. I was planning on my piece to be a little bit better, but halfway through it was going better than I had expected. The main thing I learned was I am not very good with mixing colors, and if I want a lighter color i’m gonna have to use more white, most likely i'm not going to use colored ink much.
